INTRO TO MUSICAL THEATRE (All Beginners)

Participants are introduced to the basic building blocks of musical theatre by engaging in fun activities, games and projects that incorporate basic skills in music, theatre and movement while also developing themselves as people who are able to contribute positively to a team, take chances, develop confidence and begin creating a "toolbox" to take with them as they progress to more advanced learning opportunities.  There is no performance aspect to this class.  Experiencial only.
MUSICAL THEATRE WORKSHOP - LEVEL 1

Participants will engage in games, activities and small group projects which allow each child to develop individual strengths as people including kindness, patience, assertiveness, courage, determination and generosity.  They will also benefit by learning introductory skills in the areas of singing & music, theatre and dance .  They will explore how their bodies move through space, methods of travel and play with basic choreography.  Learning will also include character building, healthy singing and basic scene building.  Students will be introduced to some improvisation skills which helps in development of confidence, quick thinking and ability to make strong choices.  They will participate in a short sharing of work at the end of the term if the teacher feels they are ready.

MUSICAL THEATRE WORKSHOP - LEVEL 2

Participants will continue to engage in games, activities and small group projects which allow each child to develop individual strengths as people including kindness, patience, assertiveness, courage, determination and generosity.  They will continue to grow skills in the areas of singing & music, theatre and dance .  They will build on their understanding of how their bodies move through space, continue to explore methods of travel as well as play with more complex choreography.  Character building will be taken to the next level as participants focus on movement, voice, personality and development of unique characteristics.  Learning will continue to include building healthy singing habits while exploring repertoire as well as creating their own materials.  Students will continue to hone their improvisation skills and may participate in a short sharing of work.
MUSICAL THEATRE PERFORMANCE - LEVEL 1

This performance focused offering provides participants with the opportunity to experience what it's like to build a musical theatre presentation, complete with staging, choreography, vocals, character building and scripted storytelling.  Students will rehearse and build their material while also participating in games and activities which encourage risk taking, quick thinking, decision making, confidence building, team building and overall skill development in the performing arts.  It is important for participants to commit to regular attendance as this is a progressive class reliant on each performer.
